High-Voltage Stations for Electric Vehicle Fast-Charging: Trends, Standards, Charging Modes and Comparison of Unity Power-Factor Rectifiers

Emission of greenhouse gases and scarcity fossil fuels have put the focus scientific community, industry society on electric vehicle (EV). In order to reduce CO 2 emissions, cutting-edge policies regulations are being imposed worldwide, where use EVs is encouraged. best scenarios reaching 245 million by 2030 expected. Extensive EV-s requires installation a wide grid charging stations it very important stablish power topology in terms efficiency impact grid. This paper presents review most relevant issues EV station topologies. includes battery technology, currently existing standards proposals for converters stations. this process, some disadvantages current chargers been identified, such as poor factor. To solve these limitations, five unidirectional three-phase rectifier topologies proposed fast that enhance situation chargers. Simulation results show all improve factor issue without penalizing efficiency. The with overall performance Vienna 6-switch T-type rectifier. These two achieve high factor, they allow better distribution losses among semiconductors, which significantly increase life-cycle semiconductor devices reliability converter.
